Zambia Bus Crash


A Marco Polo bus and a South African Freight Liner truck collided in Zambia, putting twenty-four in the hospital, and killing a dozen passengers in Kaleya Township. The bus was en route from Namwala District to Lusaka when the truck driver swerved into the bus’s lane, in order to avoid a bicyclist.

The injured were hospitalized at Noble Hamukale. Eight men and three women died at the scene. The bus driver was 35 year old Noble Hamukale; and the truck driver was Wedson Chauluka, both of whom were among the deceased.

Emergency responders included the police, and the Disaster management and mitigation unit
