Update On Rail Collision withAtlantic Station, NYC


The NTSB launched a team to investigate the rail accident that occurred on January 4, 2017 at 8:20 AM EST in Brooklyn, NY Atlantic Terminal in New York City. The team spent seven days on site.

An electric Long Island Railroad passenger train struck a bumping post, derailed a number of M7cars, and resulted in multiple injuries. Dan Donoghue (FDNY) said The train’s wheels “lifted up”… the train crashed through “a small room…at the end of the track.” The accident number is DCA17FR002.

103 people were injured, 31 hospitalized at Brooklyn Hospital Center, Kings County or New York Methodist. Two carriages were severely damaged. The black box (event recorder) was recovered.
