The Royal Dutch Shell 2,100-barrel oil spill in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico near Shell’s Glider Field is visible from the Louisiana coast. Royal Dutch Shell shut down its Brutus platform. The coastguard said 88,200 gallons was released from the pipeline. The oil sheen probably came from a release of oil from subsea infrastructure. Response vessels have been engaged to attempt oil recovery.
