Natural Gas Leakage Caused the East Harlem Explosion

ExplosionFederal investigators, on Tuesday, declared natural gas leakage to be the reason behind 116th Street explosion, happened last week.

According to a recent statement from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), the 8 inch pipeline mains, located under the Park Avenue, has failed the pressure test. This employs that the pipe segment near one of the destroyed buildings had a crack.

The blast in the East Harlem, New York, was reported on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at about 9:30 a.m. As per the statistics from the office of New York Mayor, the accident resulted in 8 fatalities and 49 injuries.
