Malindi Bus Crash

Five people died and 25 others were injured after a Najaah Company bus en route from Lamu to Malindi lost control at Kadzuhoni in Malindi. Four people died in the crash, three of them at the scene, including a road worker, the conductor of a matatu, the roadside and a bus passenger. Twenty-three people were hospitalize.

The bus conductor died at the High Definition Unit in Malindi District Hospital.

The driver came upon a speed bump being built, braked, and the accident happened.

Emergency responders included locals, Malindi police officers, and Gongoni AP, and Kenya Red Cross officials. A bus passenger recovering at Malindi District Hospital said he was “awakened by a loud bang and saw the bus flying in the air.” Some opined the accident occurred due to “potholes and Mathenge trees.”
