Dosquebradas Colombia Pipeline Blasts 13, Injures 100, 40 homes

What: National oil company Ecopetrol Pipeline Explosion

Who: 13 fatalities, 100 injuries
Why: Thirty-five shanties were destroyed in the pre-dawn hours when the pipeline near Dosquebradas Colombia exploded.

The cause is speculated to be due to ground tremors and rain stressing the pipe. Initially it was blamed on oil thieves.

A hundred of the injured have been hospitalized with an assortment of fractures and burns from the blast.

Authorities announced they would be rebuilding 40 homes.
