Collision Between Two Trains in Switzerland

At 7 pm near the station of Granges-pres-Marnand in Switzerland, two Swiss Federal Railways trains crashed head-on, trapping and killing one driver and injuring the other.

Forty-four passengers were injured, five seriously. The one fatality has been reported is one of the drivers. One train was leaving the station and the other was arriving when they collided

Emergency services that responded included l ambulances, fire engines and a helicopter. The injured were transported by helicopter or ambulance to the hospital in Payerne or Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV) in Lausanne.

The Swiss Accident Investigation Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
