Bus Crash Kills 53 in Zambia

From fifty one to fifty-three people died in a Zambia Postal Service bus, which also runs passenger transport services in Zambia. The accident occurred on the main road north of Lusaka.

There were fifteen survivors reported out of the seventy-three or four passengers aboard. Passengers were traveling from the Copperbelt mining province to Lusaka.

The truck driver and his assistant died in the crash.

The survivors were taken to a missionary hospital nearby and to a hospital in Lusaka.

The two vehicles (bus and truck) collided when the bus appeared to be swerving to avoid another vehicle. All of the vehicles were speeding.
