Bulgarian Bus Driver Sentenced to Five Years in Enturtrans Crash


Two years ago, June 15 2011 a bus accident on the Trakiya highway in Bulgaria resulted in the death of nine. The bus operated by Enturtrans was en route from the Sofia to Burgas when it overturned and burst into flames.

The trial has just concluded. Technical failures such as cracks, a damaged break, and poor wiring were determined to be the cause of the accident.

Bus driver Svetoslav Dimitrov was sentenced to five years in jail; the owner/manager of Enturtrans, Eniz Chengel, was sentenced to ten years, as was the unit head Nikolay Toshev.
