At Least 5 Injured after Trains Collide in Switzerland

railroadA commuter train and a regional intercity train collided at the Rafz train station near Zurich, Switzerland, at around 6:45 a.m. on February 20.

Authorities said both trains were travelling in the same direction when one sideswiped the other. The sideswiped train veered off the rails and many carriages tipped over.

At least 5 people were injured in the accident.

National railway officials confirmed that the collision happened when the commuter train was heading from Rafz to Schaffhausen while the intercity train was en-route from Zurich to Schaffhausen.

The accident is under investigation.
